Violas

George Craske

1841

A very fine English viola by George Craske made in 1841, labelled and signed internally, original Craske scroll. This viola is one of the nicest looking and sounding violas that we have seen in years from this English unsung genius. Attractive two piece back with a narrow to medium flame descending slightly from the central joint. The sides if similar wood, the original scroll of plainer material, the table of strong medium grain narrowing to the flanks.Transluscent orange brown varnish on a golden, cinnamon ground.
